What Are Auxiliary Aids and Services?

Auxiliary aids and services are supports that enable individuals with disabilities to communicate effectively and participate fully in our services. These may include:

  • Oral interpreters for individuals who are deaf-blind
  • Sign Language Interpreters for spoken language communication
  • Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services
  • On-demand interpreter services available 24/7

Written Communication Services

  • Real-time captioning (CART)
  • Written note-taking services
  • Document transcription
  • Large print materials
  • Braille materials and audio formats

Assistive Listening Devices

  • Hearing loop systems
  • FM systems
  • Cochlear implant compatible systems
  • Amplified telephones
  • TTY/TDD devices

Accessible Formats and Materials

  • Electronic formats: PDF, Word documents, and other accessible digital formats
  • Large print: Materials printed in 14-point font or larger
  • Braille: Braille translations of documents upon request
  • Audio formats: Audio recordings of written materials
  • Simple language: Information provided in plain, easy-to-understand language
  • Picture boards: Visual communication supports
  • Accessible web content: Website compliant with WCAG 2.1 standards

Service Animals

We welcome service animals that are trained to perform tasks or do work related to a disability. Service animals are not considered pets. Handlers are responsible for the care and management of their service animal.

To request auxiliary aids or services, please contact us as soon as possible. We will make every effort to accommodate requests:

We will work with you to determine the most effective auxiliary aid or service. When possible, we will honor your preferences. For routine requests, we aim to accommodate within 24-48 hours. Emergency requests will be accommodated immediately.

Provision of Services at No Cost

All auxiliary aids and services are provided at no cost to the individual or their family members. There are no additional charges, copayments, or surcharges for requesting or receiving auxiliary aids or services. This does not limit our ability to charge for any other services we provide.

No Retaliation

We do not retaliate against anyone for requesting auxiliary aids or services, filing a complaint, or exercising their rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
